BOLSAS DE GRADUAÇÃO, DOUTORADO, PÓS-DOC OU SANDUÍCHE

1. Bolsas de pós-doutorado FAPESP em Catálise na UNICAMP e na UFSCar

Post-Doctoral – three (3) positions in Brazil

Research Groups from two institutes in Brazil (UFSCar and UNICAMP) are offering three (3) post-doctoral fellowships linked to the Thematic Project -FAPESP "Novel chemical catalytic and photocatalytic processes for the direct conversion of methane and CO2 to products".

Abstract

In 20 years we are expected to reach the Natural Gas Golden Age, when methane will play a leading role as primary industrial feedstock. Hence, the main aim of this proposal is developing new alternatives to convert methane, as well as CO2, in methanol. Alternative products, such as carbon-based materials and syngas will be also studied. Methanol, an important industrial building-block, lies between the most important chemicals to be obtained from methane and CO2. Industrially, methanol is produced from syngas, which is mainly obtained by methane steam reforming. As it concerns the direct production of methanol from methane, the reaction has been an unsolved challenge for decades, although essential advances in understanding the reaction have been achieved. Below follow the titles of the three (3) post-doctoral projects and the contact of each supervisor.

Requirements

It is expected that the scholarship holders can work with the methods related to the synthesis, characterization and application of the developed material. They should also be actively involved in scientific dissemination, with publication of the results in national and international journals in the areas of Catalysis and Advanced Materials. The position is opened for Brazilians and foreigners candidates. The selected person will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship of R$ 7,373.10 (nearly US$ 1950) per month and a technical reserve, equivalent to 15% of the scholarship expenses directly related to the research activity. More details can be found at: http://www.fapesp.br/270

Candidates must have completed a doctorate for less than 7 years, ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and speak English. Also must have immediate availability to live in Brazil and dedicate full-time to the research.

Registrations

Entries will be received exclusively by e-mail of each supervisor (described above) including as the subject of the message the expression "FAPESP postdoctoral fellowship", followed by the name. The deadline for registration is March 31st 2020. The following documents must be included in a single PDF file

1. Summary Curriculum (four pages maximum) containing published works

2. Letter justifying the interest in the vacancy (maximum 1 page)

3. Two letters of recommendation

Incomplete application will not be accepted. The projects are expected to begin no later than July 1st 2020.
