    To work in the Group of Nano Dispositivos do Laboratório Nacional de Nanotecnologia (LNNano)

    The successful candidate is expected to contribute in the area of bioelectronics based on graphene and 2D materials, to support and/or lead collaborative, multidisciplinary research efforts. We are specifically looking for candidates who are highly collaborative with the existing LNNano team. The candidate will be expected to establish a funded research activity.

    Since CNPEM is committed to the promotion of innovation in Brazil, through dialogue with companies in partnerships of R,D&I, a priority will be given to candidates that have demonstrated the capability of working in both fundamental and applied projects.

    Researcher with a focus on: electron transmission microscopy or atomic force - CNPEM (191486)

    Para atuar no Grupo de Caracterização do Laboratório Nacional de Nanotecnologia (LNNano)

    Main Activities Involved:

    Electron Transmission Microscopy: Develop research in transmission electron microscopy, image treatment in corrected electron microscopy, and the use and treatment of electron diffraction data for PDF tests, including analysis of amorphous and complex solids. The Researcher will also be responsible for demonstrating and preparing nanocrystals and developing microscopic techniques for analyzing images of materials used with the electronic beam (type Perovskites and SURMOFs) and images of light atom materials.

    Atomic Force Microscopy: Develop research in microscopy of atomic force and/or tunnelling to obtain images of molecules under ultra-high-vacuum and cryogenic temperatures. The researcher must conduct cutting-edge research in the area of STM and AFM image interpretation, mainly in molecules with applications in electronics. AFM image interpretation, mainly in molecules with applications in electronics.

    Divulgação nº 55/2020 - Informe AUCANI - Chamada URGENTE para fabricação de respiradores na emergência COVID-19

    Informamos que está aberta a chamada emergencial do DFID's Frontier Tech Hub, para pesquisadores que possuam protótipo de um respirador artificial simples, para ser produzido na emergência da COVID-19 no Reino Unido e, consequentemente, em mais 27 países.

    A chamada emergencial deve-se ao fato de que não há respiradores suficientes aos infectados nesses países.

    Informamos, no âmbito da pandemia do COVID-19, que estão abertas, até 31 de março de 2020, as inscrições ao concurso Code Life Ventilator Challenge. A Fundação do Hospital Geral de Montreal, em colaboração com o Instituto de Pesquisa do Centro de Saúde da Universidade McGill (MUHC) e Agorize, estão lançando o desafio global à inovação.

    Scientist focused on investigating molecular processes (191874)

    We are searching for a Scientist to join the team of the Brazilian Biorenewables National Laboratory (LNBR) who will investigate molecular processes behind soil greenhouse gas emissions.

    In Brazil, emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) from production processes of biofuels and other biorenewables originate mostly from soil. The understanding of molecular processes in GHG formation is essential for the development of biotechnological mitigation strategies.

    We are looking for a scientist who is passionate about genetic and molecular analyses of main metabolic pathways associated with N2O production and the development of bio-solutions to mitigate such emissions. We expect the candidate to have:

    - experience in genetic and metabolic engineering;
    - knowledge on Crispr-Cas9/12 (desirable);
    - experience in multi-omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics);
    - knowledge on the mechanisms that regulate soil GHG emissions, especially N2O (desirable).

    You must have a PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related areas, who is proactive in working in a multidisciplinary environment.

    Nominations open for the 2020 Biomaterials Science Lectureship

    Do you know an early-career researcher who deserves recognition for their contribution to the biomaterials field?

    Now is your chance to put them forward for the accolade they deserve.

    Biomaterials Science is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 2020 Biomaterials Science Lectureship award. This annual award was established in 2014 to honour an early-stage career scientist who has made a significant contribution to the biomaterials field.

    The recipient of the award will be asked to present a lecture at the 11th World Biomaterials Congress in Glasgow in May 2020, where they will also be presented with the award. The Biomaterials Science Editorial Office will provide financial support to the recipient for travel and accommodation costs.

    The recipient will also be asked to contribute a lead article to the journal and will have their work showcased free of charge on the front cover of the issue in which their article is published.
