2. International Workshop onUtilization of Research Reactors: 60 YEARS OF IEA-R1
Two thousand and seventeen marks the diamond anniversary of IEA-R1 - the first and the biggest nuclear research reactor in Brazil -, situated at the USP campus, inside the IPEN, and to celebrate it a workshop will be held from Nov. 28 – Dec. 01 at IPEN:
"International Workshop onUtilization of Research Reactors: 60 YEARS OF IEA-R1"
The IEA-R1 reactor has been used intensively during these 60 years for studies in fundamental science in different areas and for the development of the radiopharmaceuticals and other services. The invited speakers in the workshop represent this plurality with emphasis on nuclear reactor applications, Nuclear Security, Solid State Physics, Neutron Activation Analysis and others. Among the confirmed speakers are:
- Heinz Haas (CERN);
- Jeffrey Lynn (NIST – USA);
- Peter Vermaercke (SCK/CEN – Belgium);
- Togzhan Kassenova (Carnegie – USA);
- Hamidatou Lylia (NRC of Birine – Algeria);
- Rita Plá (CNEA – Argentina);
- Brazilian authorities.
